BILLI & THEODORE: MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE is the 2nd full-length studio album by John Lathrop as The Stan Laurels, containing score and songs featured in the independent motion picture BILLI & THEODORE.

This album was John's first venture into film scoring and is, for the most part, a more stripped-down acoustic guitar-based record than its everything-plus-the-kitchen-sink predecessor, DEATH OF THE SUN. It still maintains the signature rich, lush fullness The Laurels brought in the debut and surpasses it in production quality. In fact, despite the leaner, less saturated style, many will find that BILLI & THEODORE is possibly an even more psychedelic and dynamic record as a whole. John added banjo to his repertoire solely for this effort, and the sprinkling of it throughout, especially when among the fat beats, heavy bass lines, big pop hooks, and spacey synths, adds a beautiful element of surprise. The instrumental score pieces provide an drama that is rarely heard on an indie rock album, but somehow they still intertwine perfectly with the bouncy, catchy pop tunes and stripped-down acoustic numbers. John even tried his hand (for better or worse) at an old school country/western song, complete with a big-reverb spoken word section and of course, lots of hootin' and hollerin'. The result is a proper evolution of the unique sound John created with his first record. BILLI & THEODORE is the sophomore Laurels album no one knew we needed until we heard it.

For his efforts, John won the award for Best Music and Sound Design at the 2013 May Day Film Festival in Indianapolis, IN.
