Maybe 03:34
I never thought I'd know The beauty of the pleasure in the pain The decisions will be made But the questions still remain No one really knows The direction of the flow You can't just "Make it So" Maybe we'll grow You may never know Don't get too down about it; Just sit back and enjoy the show Serendipity Is alright with me Revel in the randomness of life And you will be free Whatever can I do; There isn't any kind of Superman There's no angel guardian And there is no master plan But we'll all be OK There is sunshine every day And there's so much more to say Maybe we'll grow You may never know Don't get too down about it; Just sit back and enjoy the show Serendipity Is alright with me Revel in the randomness of life And you will be free

Years ago, we were happy We had not a care in the world (It was straight-up boss) Life was free and easy Until we met a girl (Then shit got cray-cray) She made everything so complicated We thought we would be deflated When life gives you lemons, you know what to do But when life sends an alien to infiltrate you There's no evading, there is no debating You'd better adapt or your life you will rue Sometimes you walk through a new door It slams behind you, shut tight It's not what you ever asked for That does not mean it's not right She made our old life antiquated But we ended up elated When life gives you lemons, you know what to do But when life sends an alien to infiltrate you There's no evading, there is no debating You'd better adapt or your life you will rue Things were complicated, old life antiquated But now we're (r)elated and our love is true

Remember when they caught an EVP? A growling, sinister voice said, "GET OUT!" We fell out of our chairs But then I recalled how Nobody spoke English there ... Dragons, sure, but fairies? Really? Are you kidding me? Your universe makes zero sense to me You can't just introduce a werewolf into An established vampire world, can you? Wizards, hell yes, but talking trees? You've got to be kidding me! Sasquatch, of course, but Yeti? Please! I just want to believe ...

If you told me that you're in love with me I'd take a lead pipe to your knee And if you sent me chocolates and flowers I'd trap you in a bear's den for hours Try not to take it personally I'm certain it's not you, it's me I sting like a butterfly, float like a bee That's just how I do Am I the ship? Are you the sea? Or is the opposite true for me? That's the kind of uncertainty I love I'm not exactly where I want to be But there's a problem only I can see She thinks I've gone so far She thinks I'm a rock star But I've barely even done a damned thing yet, my friend If you told me that love is in the air I'd smile and push you down the stairs If you asked me if I will marry you I'd waterboard you 'till you turn blue I'm not exactly where I want to be But there's a problem only I can see She thinks I've gone so far She thinks I'm a rock star But I've barely even done a damned thing yet, my friend

Sanity 03:51
I bet you can tell by looking at my face I have no more tolerance for this stupid place My friends try to help; They say, "DON'T PANIC! It will be OK," And I hope so But I don't know anymore Sanity Is what I need Vanity Is all I see I feel like a Hitchhiker on this crazy sphere of blue Maybe for you the simple answer is 42 But for me it might be 43 How can it be I still don't know? I've still got a long way to go Sanity Is what I need Vanity Is all I see

Poly Sigh 03:57
Once upon a time we were magic; Every moment lavished with smiles I thought you were a hat trick; You had looks and kindness and style But then you darkened my day with news That I could not comprehend Maybe this is routine for you But my heart now has to mend But you'd better stay right here 'Cause I've got an idea My world was already quite hazy Just before you dropped an atom bomb I'd like to say you're making me crazy But this might just be my new norm One plus one was just fine for me But you needed to explore You thought you'd have a secret jamboree But now you're getting so much more You're welcome for my pleasantries 'Cause one plus one plus one is three If that's how you want to play, I will partake in your dirty little game But just don't act shocked when I say, "Bring a friend to play!"

Maximum Zen 04:39
If you ever need a friend But you're tired of humans Of the basic garden variety Prepare your mind to be blown; There's a gentleman I know Point of fact, he's more like a deity Strap on in and try to hold yourself steady To be honest, I don't know if you're ready It's a heavy thing you're about to feel If you want to know just how it feels To metaphysically heal From a glance, like the touch of King Midas Step into the tiger's den And feel the maximum Zen Bask in the glow of the aura of Titus Modern science still doesn't know if he is man or phantasm But that special feeling you experienced was a full SoulGasm™ And your chi just lost its sweet cherry He wears a non-ironic mustache And he smokes a vape pen so he never needs to ash He knows all the answers to life's mysteries 'Cause he crashed an ACC course in philosophy He's a little more Chachi than Fonz But he sleeps with more women than Wilt Chamberlain

Door #1 05:02
Just today we found out Life is but a dream, or so they say We're spinning roundabout Starry wide eyes beam every which way Question marks are swirling in our minds tonight Personified, they're literally walking upright Tell me: What's behind the curtain? Who will open Door #1? Do we even have a clue How to handle Door #2? There's a hopeful look in someone's eyes Contemplating what might be While others, hesitant, surmise Terror versus joy; what's it gonna be? No amount of Titus Juice has an effect Our new reality is as real as real can get Tell me: What's behind the curtain? Who will open Door #1? Do we even have a clue How to handle Door #2? Sighs, laughs, and fun In Door #1 What can we do With Door #2? Friends don't let friends become what they are not But change happens naturally with real thought Actions reveal how we want to be known But sometimes we don't know until we grow Tell me: What's behind the curtain? Who will open Door #1? Do we even have a clue How to handle Door #2?

about

MAYBE is the third full-length studio album by John Lathrop as The Stan Laurels, containing songs featured in the motion picture MAYBE SHOWER.

With MAYBE, Lathrop has created something special and unique: a film soundtrack that is also a pure stand-alone rock record. Lyrically, the album is centered around characters and themes in the fictional movie universe, but the words are as relatable as any Lathrop has ever written. Sonically, this is The Laurels' power-poppiest album yet, full of loud, crunchy guitars, big hooks, pounding drums, space-age synths, and melodic guitar solos, while bringing a wealth of infectious melody and hooks. The result is a bigger, tighter, more powerful, and accessible sound, while still staying true to The Laurels' signature strong melodic drive, thick beats and bass lines, clever lyrics, splashes of psychedelia, and a few unexpected twists.

Lathrop's most revered and highly acclaimed album to date, MAYBE has scored tons of positive reviews, landing on several "Best of 2018" lists, and getting regular airplay all over the world. The pinnacle of these accolades has been an Independent Music Award nomination for Best Indie/Alt Rock album of 2018. Essentially the Indie Grammys, The IMAs are the biggest music award in the world for independent artists.
